Contemporary Jewish Art~
In Judaism there are two interpretations of the symbolism of the hard boiled egg (Baytzah). One is that it is an ancient fertility symbol. The other is found in Passover a holiday full of ritual symbols that retell the Exodus story. A boiled egg is one of the symbolic foods eaten during the Sedar on the first night of Passover.
Each egg in this collection collection has a Hebrew letter impression stained with iron oxide and random metal stems. Each egg is about 4" H with the metal stem and 5 1/4" in diameter and weigh under 4 oz.
